All cultures except those on Mondias and Yttria place great importance on family matters.   In bygone days families, clans and tribes tended to be more nomadic and combative in nature, but in more recent times, many of them have settled and learned to live together in a more harmonious way. Mondias and Yttria Physical Appearance : Mondians and Yttrians typically have pale skins but their other characteristics such as hair and eye colour, height and build tend to vary.   Mondians have distinctive ridges above their eyebrows but Yttrians lack this feature.   Hair is mostly worn short on both worlds.   Anything below collar-length is unusual.   Men tend to be clean-shaven but a few have small moustaches and/or beards.   Clothing is of a practical and utilitarian nature.   There is very little distinction between work-wear and leisure-wear. Society : Mondias enforces Cyad Law throughout the entire planet but on Yttria, there is a melding of the original pre-Cyad Yttria

Saarinen Colour: Transparent (but can appear white in some locations) Location: All Fenian Planets Properties: Bonded with planet’s core (except on Mondias and Yttria), prolongs life and heals damage. Elediyaan Colour: Reddish Brown (sometimes described as Maroon) Location: Viria, Varathusia, Malvania, Sartoria Properties: Bonded with rocks, soil, plant and animal life.   Bonded with certain people, increases telepathic, empathic and precognitive abilities. Fenian Time References Time is counted differently within the Fenian Galaxy.  All planets use the same units and I haven't gone into the scientific aspects such as planetary size, orbit, tilt, rotations, etc.  In order to keep it simple, I work on the principle that all the planets have the same amount of daylight and night hours.  Sci-fi purists will cringe at this but since such matters are never relevant to the novels, I rely on readers to suspend their disbelief over the lack of hard science. These are the basic units for measuring time: 100 minutes = 1 hour 10 hours = half a day   (The day is split into two sections – ten hours of the daytime and ten hours of the night, sometimes referred to as morning and evening hours.  Afternoon may also be mentioned, but usually only for the second through to fifth hours of the second half of the day) 10 weeks = 1 month 10 months = 1 year   Fenian Calendar References There are two methods

  Genaiic   Genaiic is the root language upon which the Virian, Varathusian, Sartorian and Malvanian languages are based.   It is still used by members of religious orders and academic communities on these planets, but it is largely considered to be a dead language.   It is a very ornate and detailed language, and much use is made of metaphors and historical or mythological references.   For this reason, it is extremely difficult for visitors to the region to learn. People’s Language The People’s Language is an artificial language developed by the Cyad shortly after its formation.   The idea was firstly to create a language for secret communications by Cyad spies, but it spread to all people born on planets under Cyad rule.   It has become the most widespread language in the known Universe.   It is a very precise and orderly language, but rather cold and mechanical.   For this reason, there is not much literature or poetry written in the People’s Language.

The Fenian Galaxy is where most of the novels take place.  Below I have listed the main planets and a brief description of them. PLANETS WITHIN THE FENIAN GALAXY  MONDIAS : Planet of origin of the Cyad Confederacy. The most technologically advanced planet in the known Universe. The harsh Cyad Confederacy controls its homeworld with an efficient but rigid system of rules. The Cyad’s goal is to explore, invade and control the entire Universe. They have huge armies and weapons at their disposal and have also developed advanced space travel with the fluxship, which is capable of jumping across vast distances. Mondians are also pioneers in toxic chemical warfare and in genetic engineering.  YTTRIA : The most commercially thriving planet in the known Universe. It has the greatest population of lawyers, doctors and commercial business people. Yttria was the first planet to form an alliance with the Cyad, albeit an uneasy one.
