The Vyrdigaan Prophecies

The Vyrdigaan Prophecies series  takes places in the Fenian Galaxy, like the original Virian Chronicles series. It comprises four novels which tell the back-stories of supporting characters from The Virian Chronicles and The Virian Companions.  Each novel can be read as a stand-alone or as part of the series.

Probyt's Progress

First of the Vyrdigaan Prophecies, telling the back-story of Parsivaal Probyt.

Parsivaal had always known his mother hated him.  Everyone at the Beryk enclave believed him to be the product of rape.  A chance meeting with a woman claiming to be his grandmother helps him to learn the truth of his origins.  Through her, he discovers another branch of his family.  His new-found relatives show him love and introduce him to a radically different culture and lifestyle.

As he grows up, his life choices lead him away from his homeworld of Malvania and into the unknown.  Having come from a remote enclave, he finds it difficult to adapt to life in a busy city.  An unlikely travelling companion becomes his guide and helps him adjust to life outside the enclave.

Dreams and visions compel him to solve a mystery and set him on a path taking him away from his new life and onwards to further adventures.

Travel with him as he is propelled towards his destiny by a series of perplexing and frustrating events.

The Donovan Destiny

Second of the Vyrdigaan Prophecies, telling the back-story of Caratacuus Helvellyan.

The Leesthern Enclave is a place of strict discipline, where adults and children spend most of their time segregated.  Ten year old Caratacuus has never accepted the division.  His frequent forays into the adults-only zones earn him tough punishments from the Elders and ridicule from his peers.

A visiting sorcerer from another enclave provides Caratacuus with a tantalising glimpse into a different and more relaxed way of life.  His decision to run away leads him on a voyage of self-discovery.

Throughout his travels, he faces many challenges but he never wavers from his ultimate goal — to join the prestigious and experimental Donovan Institute.

Follow him on his journey and share his adventures as he grows from a naïve dreamer into a worldly and accomplished man of action.

The Forbidden Sorceress

Third of the Vyrdigaan Prophecies, telling the back-story of Edeeshah Modjian.

Born into Varagan society where females are prohibited from learning and practising sorcery, Edeeshah faces two tough choices — keep her nascent powers a secret or go to mainland Varathusia and find someone to teach her.  Neither of these appeals to her and she chafes against the restrictions imposed upon her.

When a third option is presented to her, she embarks on a path which will bring about a dramatic transformation.  Follow her journey as she learns important lessons and deals with many challenging situations.

Chimera Obscura

Fourth of the Vyrdigaan Prophecies, telling the back-story of Andreas Cesario.

As the illegitimate child of a Carpathian Lord and his favourite housemaid, Andreas has to contend with his violent and hateful half-siblings and various power-plays within the household.

He is a product of two different worlds — the privileged upbringing of a Carpathian son and the freedom of the streets where his mother was born.

As he grows up, he discovers that he is far more important than he ever imagined, being part of a two-stage prophecy which dates back to the origins of the Founding Families of the Inner Circle.  Set up for a fall by his scheming half-siblings, he has to rely on his natural intelligence in order to stay ahead in the game.

This novel follows the story of his life from birth to his mid thirties.

Dermanshiel

DERMANSHIEL Dermanshiel is the name of a vast subterranean complex located in the permanently frozen northern region of Malvania.  The original system of caverns and tunnels has been added to over the millennia as the population increased.  It was originally occupied by a group of rebel sorcerers, breaking away from the restrictive practices of their home enclaves. Over the centuries, the population dwindled.  With the founding of newer enclaves in less hostile locations, a gradual exodus occurred.  Only a few determined archivists kept the place open until it was rediscovered by Lady Anwyn Menehari.  Following her discovery, Lord Claudio Scalani and his twin brother, the healer Emlyn Hawkins, began their explorations of the place, aided by a few enthusiastic students.
