Reincarnation

All living beings in the Fenian Galaxy reincarnate after their physical bodies have ceased to function and they have passed into the Beyond.  There are two types of reincarnation.

Reincarnation without consciousness

This is the most common form of reincarnation.  A deceased person’s straan (life-energy) is recycled and mixed in with the pool of pure energy which exists in the Beyond.  When a new being is born, some of that recycled energy is transformed into new straan.  The new being has no recollection of previous lifetimes.

Reincarnation with consciousness

A few rare individuals retain memories of their previous lifetimes.  This is because their actual consciousness is transferred into a new being, along with their straan.  Much research has been conducted into this phenomenon and the most logical and popular theory is that these people have a stronger sense of self and their consciousness refuses to dissipate.  Thus it remains even after the death of their physical body and it is transferred at random to an embryo during the gestation process.  Once that being has gained sufficient understanding of themselves and the world around them, they are able to recall details from previous lifetimes.  The clarity of these details depends on their level of natural intelligence and their ability to retain memories.  Some people may only recall vague impressions from previous lifetimes, while others may remember most of what they have lived through.
