Khmamfrodan Shrieker Sigil

A tribal warrior caste from the remote self-governing Khmamfrod region in Southern Yttria. They have kept themselves apart from the rest of Yttria for millennia, thus guaranteeing racial purity and cultural isolation.

They tend to be short and slender in build, maintaining a childlike physique all their lives. They have round faces, small narrow eyes and wide mouths. Their skin-tone is pale and their hair colour varies from light brown to brown-black. They file their teeth to resemble animal fangs and often paint them in bright colours.

They have two favoured modes of dress, either priestly robes or tight-fitting military style jumpsuits. They keep most of their hair in a military buzz-cut but let one lock grow long, usually at the left side of the face.

Unlike most Yttrians, they practice sorcery. Lacking crystal bonds, they gain power from drinking and injecting liquefied crystal mixed with blood and potent herbs. Their powers are temporary and need to be replenished on a frequent basis.

In addition to their sorcery powers, they are trained from an early age to use their voices as weapons. They learn how to hypnotise and paralyse using specialised vocal techniques. The most skilled Master Shriekers can kill with their voice alone and are designated by having their lips permanently painted white.

There are three levels of Shriekers:

Ember — Initiates and early stage trainees who have their lips painted orange

Luminant — Intermediates at journeyman level who have their lips painted yellow

Incandescent — Master Shriekers who have their lips painted white

Most Khmamfrodan citizens live in colonies designed and constructed by off-world Agrimages. These colonies are made from natural materials such as rocks, trees and other vegetation. Agrimages are also commissioned to control the climate and keep the soil fertile for growing crops and rearing food animals.

The colonies are mostly self-sufficient, only importing items which the inhabitants cannot make for themselves, such as technological devices, vehicles and automated household appliances.
